What’s happened in August
I am in no doubt many of us are looking forward to the resumption of some normality after a 5-month lockdown this August 2020. However, with rules relaxed, people have not adhered to the rules and infection rates have begun to climb once again.
I hope for their sakes they don’t get COVID as I am in no doubt you will suffer badly. Back in February, I had a minor dose and it wasn’t pleasant. A lack of appetite, no sense of smell, a constant dry throat with a cough, a rattling chest, a temperature and feeling tired. My kidneys seemed to work overtime.
To get it out there last year (2019) I had two other components of the virus, namely conjunctivitis (inflamed eyes) and chronic diarrhoea for six days. Of course, we knew nothing about COVID when the above struck, however, it is more than a coincidence I got hit with two nasty bugs now linked to COVID.
What has lockdown done for me. On the work front I released two publications about Tehnical Writing. Both are available on Amazon. However, unless you dabble in my line of work they will not be of interest.
I have now released a novella titled ”Confession, Lies and Family Ties‘. I had the idea in the back of my mind, like every story, for years. When I planned it out, I started writing and didn’t stop. I placed to one sdie the The Street Kidd to get the new story done and dusted.
It contains just over 35000 words and will take approximately 2.5 hours to read. The Tag line ‘When a dead squirrel provides the only clue to a murder…who do you call?’
Well it isn’t Ghost busters. No phantoms or spooks in this story.
A prolific thief breaks into a house belonging to Fiona Mills. When she returns home, he hides inside a cupboard. While in there he hears an argument and man shoots Mrs Mills. Unwittingly he is arrested, charged and found guilty of murder. Ten years later, an appeal judge frees him; however, his release rattles several cages. When Wayne announces he is writing a book on his criminal exploits former colleagues panic, and one decides he must stop Wayne.
A young Detective Constable Hawke makes it his mission to interview the family members and friends and finds accusations of murder surface everywhere. However, as Hawke digs deeper and uncovers the events leading up the murder of Fiona Mills, the family ties are well and indeed split, and the truth never lies.
I must report that after six months lockdown I am returning to work soon. But, lockdown allowed me to write a story that was back of the list.
Thank you, everybody. I hope you are all well and life soon returns to normality.
