I turned my head on the pillow wondering what the time was. As I reached out for my watch, I can see someone standing close by. Who is it I wonder as they step closer towards me? I jumped from my bed grasping for the light switch. It hissed and screamed louder than any child. The screeching grated right through me as it walked around the bed towards me. I still grasped for the light switch wondering why it wouldn’t work. The room filled with an odour that hung heavy in the air. As it hit the back of my throat, I choked for breath. It was like gas blocking your airwaves, burning and the more I tried to draw in a huge breath I choked. I wanted to scream, holler, call out for help but fear paralysed me. The beast reached and gripped my arm and as it did; I saw flashes of light and memories of the past, or so I thought. What was I seeing?
As I came to my senses, I realised that it was my Mother. My temperature had exceeded 42 degrees and my hallucinations were creating a nightmare world of terror.
